چکیده

The current global shortage of organ resources, the imbalance in donor-recipient demand and increasing number high-risk donors make preservation a necessity to consider appropriate storage options. method use often has risks such as blood group mismatch, short shelf life, susceptibility. HBOCs have positive effects anti-apoptotic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant anti-proliferative, which significant advantages storage. Therefore, it is common pursuit researchers design synthesize with safety, ideal oxygen-carrying capacity, easy storage, etc. that are widely applicable optimal for different organs. There been recent advancement understanding mechanisms, discussed this review.

Hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers

Transfusable fluids that may be used as alternatives to red blood cell transfusion offer the promise of preserving tissue perfusion and minimizing hypoxic cellular damage, and this promise may soon be fulfilled. Clinical testing of hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers has faced and met challenges involving molecular design, safety, efficacy, and regulatory requirements. Three leading candidates hav...

Effects of Hemoglobin-Based Oxygen Carriers on Blood Coagulation

For many decades, Hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers (HBOCs) have been central in the development of resuscitation agents that might provide oxygen delivery in addition to simple volume expansion. Since 80% of the world population lives in areas where fresh blood products are not available, the application of these new solutions may prove to be highly beneficial (Kim and Greenburg 2006). Many imp...

Impact of hemoglobin concentration and affinity for oxygen on tissue oxygenation: the case of hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers.

In patients undergoing exchange-transfusion with hemoglobin (Hb)-based oxygen (O₂) carriers (HBOC), native Hb coexists with newly transfused Hb. The two Hb types share the same arterial and venous PO₂, but their affinities for O₂ vary. A simple spreadsheet model is described aiming at evaluating the contribution of each Hb type to the overall O₂ transport characteristics as a function of the ba...

Hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers: current status and future directions.

SEMISYNTHETIC or synthetic preparations of hemoglobin, now termed hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers (HBOCs), have been in development as an alternative to erythrocytes for several decades. Nonclinical and clinical studies of HBOCs have raised questions about their safety. Similarity of the serious adverse event profiles among these products has raised questions regarding the possibility of commo...

Enhancing oxygen solubility using hemoglobin- and perfluorocarbon-based carriers.

The objective of this paper is to review the properties of fluids capable to enhance oxygen transport and transfer and recent developments in this field. This paper reviews and compares two different approaches, which could be used to solve the important problem of oxygen supply in some cell and tissue cultures: 1) hemoglobin-based and 2) perfluorocarbon-based (PFC) oxygen carriers. Several typ...
